After seeing "An education", I started having a bit of a sixties mood. I am not a big sixties fan, (the seventies is my thing), but I wanted to explore a bit of the sixties music feeling and style. And who better than Marianne Faithfull herself? Ex-girlfriend of the biggest rock star ever (Mick Jagger) and a singer by her own right, Marianne had a sixties kind of style but with a rock twist, not just pop. Really want to rediscover her earliests albuns and let the "Mod" flow.

Daphne and Vera Correll scarf, here.

"An education", by Lone Scherfig. A story about love, dreams and deception, seen through the eyes of a naive teenager brilliantly played by Carey Mulligan (probably my favorite new actress). Beautiful art direction and wardrobe. Seriously recommend it.

This is the other illustration I told you about on monday. This cover features Beth Ditto and was made only by using black pen and pen markers. The winner of this competition will be comissioned to do a piece of work for a future edition of Dazed and Confused, how cool is that? There are dozens of great illustrations competing, so I am just happy to be participating and pleased with the way my illustrations came out. You can check it all out here. Have a great weekend.

I have been working on an illustration for a Dazed Digital competition, that consisted on illustrating one or several covers, selected by Dazed & Confused. I submitted this illustration and maybe will submit one more. The deadline is today! Wish me luck! Digital collage by l'habitué.

You simply just can't ignore this. I still can't believe it... I adored this man since I was a child. I grew up loving fashion as an art form because of him. I can't believe his gone. He was and will always be a reference to me and to everyone who takes fashion seriously, because he was a true creative spirit, a genius far ahead of his time. No one in his generation will ever compare to him or to his life's work and his talent will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace Alexander, you will be missed.

I have never been much of a print kind of girl, I prefer solids by far, but I guess that just has to do with the fact that I can't seem to find prints I love. But in the new spring/summer collections (check out Rodarte and Thakoon), I have seen really beautiful prints that will probably make me think twice the next time I think about putting on my loyal white t-shirt.

Charlotte Gainsbourg is fast becoming my next style icon. I love her effortless choices and her distinct presence. She doesn't need to amaze us with her clothes because she is naturally stylish. Her posture, her smile...such beautiful gestures... we all should learn from this super talented actress. And she can sing too. Charlotte Gainsbourg by Kurt Iswarienko for Flaunt.
